Architectural Paving and Stone, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Bill McConnell and Jim McEttrick. Mr. McConnell brought his extensive masonry industry knowledge and experience from his previous work with Anastasi Brothers and Manganaro Corp. Mr. McEttrick brought his expertise in unit paving, having spent over a decade at Hastings Pavement Company. Jim Schmidlein joined the company in 1990 and has participated in 30 plus years of APS’s success. Mr. McEttrick and Mr. Schmidlein continue to run the daily operations of APS.

APS has successfully implemented projects across the state of Massachusetts. From the distinctive granite veneer of the Boston Police Headquarters to the water struck brick veneer of the Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Building, to 12 Acres of Sidewalk paving at the completion of the Central Artery Tunnel project. APS has been a key player in the construction industry. From the deepest foundations in Boston to Deer Island Treatment Facilities to “The Plaza” at Harvard University APS has excelled in difficult environments. APS has translated their founder’s experience into an impressive resume of completed work.

From its humble beginnings, APS has become a well known and respected Masonry subcontractor in New England. APS values its long-standing relationships with the Bricklayers & Allied Crafts Local 3 and the Massachusetts Laborers District Council.
